Reviews on rafting at Dandeli
We have been to Dandeli in the month of December and stayed in the Kulgi nature camp for 3 days and 4 nights.
White river rafting at Dandeli is the best water activity which was an awesome experience and everyone must participate in this activity during their visit to Dandeli.
It was about a 2 to 3 hours journey in the water flow and around 10 KM. The guide assigned to us was very funny, talented with good guiding experience in rafting.
We have followed his commands to keep the rafting rube in the right direction. Overall it was very good, I can give 5 out of 5 ratings to this activity.
All Guides are well trained, just follow their commands, and have fun.
Excited to take part in the rafting?
Well, this is a must-go activity. If you are planning for the Dandeli trip, then this should be the first item on your list.
Timings
Rafting is conducted in two sessions.
Morning from 8.30 AM to 1 PM
Afternoon from 1.30 PM to 5.30 PM
Try to be at the booking center on time. I recommend you go for the morning session and plan for other activities or places post-lunch.
How to book
There is no online booking facility available for this activity as of now. You must go to the Kali adventure camp. It is less than 2 KM from Dandeli and buy the tickets for rafting. It is a first come first serve basis, hence be on time at the booking spot.
Start early in the morning, you will get a good time to visit other places post-lunch.
Price details
1350 per person + transportation charges for the vehicle from Kali adventure camp to Ganeshgudi from where the rafting begins and back to the booking spot.
Transportation is on a sharing basis, we paid 600 for 4 members. Discuss with the driver once they allocate a vehicle to your group.
How to get photos of river water rafting
The guide assigned to your group will be having GoPro. Pics and videos will be given on the memory card. Pay and get the memory card.
We paid 1500, as we were two different groups [4 + 4 members] paid 750 each.
Another photographer captures inside views at the starting point from outside. These pics are awesome. And again, there is a charge for this. Ask for the contact of this person near the booking counter.
Totally we paid 1150 bucks for pics.
Season or best time to visit
The best time to visit Dandeli is between October to February. River rafting activity depends on the water levels in the Supa dam and management's decision to open the gates.
Luckily, gates were opened during our visit. Check with your hotel or resort team wherever you stay, they will assist you with further details on this.
In case if you are planning to stay at Kulgi nature camp which is around 11KM from Dandeli, you must check reviews on the Kulgi nature camp.
Clothing
It is purely water activity. Get polyester wear or jerseys as you will get a chance to get into the water for a while.
No restrictions on the type of clothes. It is up to our comfort.
Short description of our journey to the river rafting
08:30 AM > Started from the Kulgi nature camp
08:45 AM > Reached Kali adventure camp and got the tickets for river rafting
09:15 AM > As we were only four members, we got another group of people into the vehicle. Transportation charges are on a sharing basis.
09:45 AM > Reached the rafting start location where we got a rafting suit with a life jacket to keep afloat in the water. We kept all our belongings in the car and the car key was handed over to the rafting guide.
10:00 AM > Rafting started. In the beginning, we jumped into the water to swim for a while. This is just to get us comfortable with the water. You can expect the same. Don't worry if you do not know swimming, life jackets keep you afloat in the water.
12:30 PM > Finished rafting. Collected a memory card from the guide.
01:00 PM > Back to the Kali adventure camp where we parked the car. Paid travel charges to the driver.
01:30 PM > Ready to have lunch
